FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  1. What area do you service?
    We service North-West side of Kanata and a small section of rural homes off Richardson Side road .

  2. Do you use snow plows or snow blowers?
    We only use Snow Blowers because they are much cleaner and gentler on properties than plows.

  3. What is the minimum snowfall amount before you clear my drive way?
    We will go out when 5 cm of snowfall has accumulated and we will stay out until the city plows have finish there final passes. We will be constantly monitoring over the winter for snow drifts, or in the event that the city removes banks and the like, to ensure that your driveway is always clear.

  4. What is your snow fall limit?
    Our snow fall limit is 300 cm of total seasonal accumulation. If that limit is exceeded, there will be a charge of $75 per additional 50 cm, or part thereof, of accumulation if you choose to continue the service for the remainder of the season.

  5. When will my driveway be cleared?
    Unfortunately weather is unpredictable so we start whenever there is 3-5 cm of snow on the ground day or night. Once 5 cm has accumulated you can expect us to complete our first pass within 4-6 hours.

  6. If I call during a snow storm will someone answer the phone?
    We are a 2 man operation which means you will always be able to reach us on our phone or by email 24 hrs a day 7 days a week. During the winter the phone is always by our side.

  7. Do you offer any discounts?
    We offer a referral program: refer anybody within our service area and receive 35$ off your contract which means if you sign up 10 friends you get your driveway for FREE. We offer 10% to members of our Canadian Forces 4-Season Discount: 10% if you sign up for snow and lawn care program.

  8. What if my car is parked in my driveway?
    We will be doing multiple passes each storm so we ask you to move your car between passes otherwise we will always clear as much snow as possible per pass.

  9. Can you blow a gravel driveway?
    Our equipment is unique compared to all the other snow removal equipment in the Kanata area in that it has a tilt and lifting function that enables us to easily adjust to changing driveway surfaces thus minimizing gravel displacement and giving cleaner results. We will be marking gravel driveways so that we can adjust our equipment accordingly.

  10. Will your equipment damage my driveway?
    Our equipment is much lighter (974 kg) than our competitors tractors (4745 kg). This was a major concern for us because we have used the big tractors in the past and trying to not damage a driveway is always a real concern. We use stainless steel blades to prevent damage and discolouration to stones. Some of our competitors claim to use Teflon/nylon blades but they do not work as well and leave behind too much ice and snow; this is why they are not commonly used in the industry.

  11. What training and qualifications do you have?
    We have many years of experience and certifications operating heavy equipment. Our experience is real world training over many seasons and conditions and not in a parking lot. We do almost all maintenance on our machines in house so that we are well versed in every technical aspect of our equipment.

  12. What makes you different?
    We are a small company founded by two people that have over 15 years combined experience working and living in the local area. We have worked for most of the similar companies in the area and we know what they do well and what they don't do well. We know we can do better. We are planing on staying small and as localized as possible to offer better and more efficient service.

  13. I see your address says Carleton place on some of your business contact information?
    The Carlton Place address is that of our bookkeeper so if you want to correspond or send us a cheque via mail we will get it. We are based near the end of Richardson side road for insurance reasons we cannot have clients coming by working premises at this time.
